The Lake Placid Police Department takes this opportunity to recognize and thank the following community members for recent donations to the police department.

Central Security Donated a portable area alarm system which will help the department apprehend recurring criminals in a specific area.   The device can be deployed in such a manner as to monitor a chosen area.
Citizen Harold Owens Harold works extensively with the Town Fair, Caladium Festival, and Glades Electric groups in town.   Harold saw the need for the department to have portable safety equipment such as cones, street barricades and safety vest.   He has been working fervently to notify others of the need.   His efforts have resulted in $1,230.00 in donations for safety equipment.   This equipment will be used to safely direct traffic during various special events, during traffic accidents, and when conducting traffic safety checks.   The closest access to such equipment for both the Lake Placid Police Department and other law enforcement agencies working our area was 10 miles away in Sebring in a compound that is locked on weekends and after hours, and a heavy duty truck which is obtained at the expense of another 30 minute delay after normal hours,  is needed to obtain that trailer.
Michelle Yates State Farm

The department was in need of a light duty trailer that could easily transport traffic safety devices short distances without harming patrol vehicles.   Michelle Yates purchased a small trailer and donated same to the police department.
